Ombudsman Saskatchewan has jurisdiction over Saskatchewan Regional Health Authorities and services provided under their programs and agencies, but not over medical professionals or their associations. For example, we can take complaints about hospitals, but complaints about doctors should go to the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Complaints and inquiries about services provided by medical facilities and care facilities should go to the Quality of Care Coordinator for the applicable Regional Health Authority.

If you think a Quality of Care Coordinator or Health Region’s response to you is unfair, you are welcome to contact us.

Complaints about medical professionals (doctors, optometrists, and dentists, for example) should go to their professional associations and licensing organizations. For a complete list of these contacts, visit the Saskatchewan Health website under Self-Regulating Professions.

Ombudsman Saskatchewan does not have jurisdiction over federal health issues. If you have a complaint or inquiry about a federal health program or service, contact Service Canada for more information about who to call.
