Fairness Week Contest

school-contest-banner6.jpg

While there are some four-letter words you can't use, it's ok to say "That's not FAIR!" When people complain about unfairness, changes can happen! In fact, people in Sweden have been telling their ombudsman about unfairness for 200 years - and with interesting results. The idea has spread and now ombudsman offices all over the world are taking complaints and defending fairness.

About Fairness Week...

200 years ago, Sweden appointed the first parliamentary ombudsman. Since then, many other countries have done the same and many other types of ombudsman have arisen. There are ombudsman for banking, prisons, insurance - even the NHL!

Across Canada, Ombudsman offices have decided to mark this important anniversary by requesting that October 12-16 be recognized as Fairness Week. Here in Saskatchewan, this contest is just one of the ways we plan to celebrate. See our most recent newsletter for more information.
