Public Presentation And Appointment With Ombudsman Staff Available November 22 In Moose Jaw

On November 22, residents of Moose Jaw and the surrounding area will be able to meet individually with staff from Ombudsman Saskatchewan. Those who think they have been treated unfairly by a provincial or municipal government service can go to the Herb Taylor Room or South Room at the Moose Jaw Public Library between 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. To book a time in advance, call 1-800-667-9787. Walk-ins are welcome.

Those who would like to know more about what the Ombudsman does and the kinds of complaints she can take are invited to a brief presentation at 1:00 p.m. in the library theatre. Everyone is welcome.

The Ombudsman can take complaints about provincial and municipal government services, including provincial ministries and agencies, Crown corporations, publicly-funded health entities, towns, cities, rural municipalities and resort villages. The Ombudsman is independent and impartial and there is no cost to make a complaint.

When possible, the Ombudsman’s staff try to resolve complaints using non-adversarial approaches such as facilitated communications, negotiation, mediation, conciliation and coaching. If that is not successful, and if appropriate, the Office will conduct an investigation into the complaint. At the completion of an investigation, when appropriate, the Ombudsman can make recommendations that government take corrective action to address and resolve the complaint. More information about the Ombudsman is available at www.ombudsman.sk.ca.
